About us
Inspired by her Danish childhood and a love of simple, timeless design, Jeannett Stevenson never set out to become a potter. What began as an experiment at her kitchen table gradually grew into Pippi and Me Ceramics.
Designing moulds, experimenting with porcelain and mixing pigments to create just the right shapes and subtle tones soon became a passion. Today, Pippi and Me is a working pottery studio creating handcrafted porcelain lighting, tableware and homeware, all designed to bring warmth and beauty into everyday life.
Before discovering ceramics, Jeannett worked as a Neuro-Intensive Care nurse, an experience that continues to influence her interest in creating calm, restorative spaces through light. Alongside running the studio, she is currently studying for an MA in Craft and Material Practices, exploring natural materials, light and biophilic design, research that continues to inspire her growing collection of porcelain lighting.
Each piece is made in small batches in the Devon studio, embracing the gentle variations that make handmade ceramics unique.
Visit Us
Our studio is tucked away on a small industrial estate in the beautiful village of Dartington, just outside Totnes in South Devon.
As a working pottery studio, things can sometimes look a little wonderfully chaotic, but that's all part of the making. Most of our porcelain lighting is on display alongside our ceramics, making it a lovely place to see everything in person.
If you're choosing lighting, we also have a selection of our porcelain shades fitted with long cables that you're welcome to borrow and try at home. Lighting is one of those things that's much easier to choose when you can see it in your own home, and our customers really appreciate being able to live with a light before making a decision.
We're officially open Wednesday to Friday, 10.30am–4.30/5pm. With three kilns usually firing or being reloaded, we're often here on other days too, so if you're passing, do pop in and say hello – there's a good chance you'll find us in the studio.
You'll also find a well-stocked Seconds / Sample Shelf, filled with beautifully imperfect pieces looking for a home. It's one of our favourite parts of the studio, helping us reduce waste while offering the chance to pick up a handmade bargain. We also stock a carefully chosen collection of work by other talented local makers.
Our Neighbours
One of the things we love about being based in Dartington is the wonderful community of independent makers and businesses around us.
Just a short stroll down the road, you'll find Luna's Bakery for excellent coffee, pastries and lunch, alongside The Orchard Carving Studio, where the incredibly talented William Barsley creates beautiful handcarved work and runs carving courses.
If it's a little later in the day, perhaps the Things Happen here, Brewery Taproom just around the corner for a well earned drink!?
We're also lucky to have some brilliant neighbours here on the estate, including Tanner Bates and his beautiful leather workshop, Make Good Prints, and Wellington Pet Food (my dogs favourite shop)
